LES AMAZONES D’AFRIQUE

We are honoured to present the all-female West-African supergroup, Les Amazones d’Afrique who use music as a means to change the society around them.

While their cause – campaigning for gender equality and eradicating ancestral violence – is worthy enough in itself, their musical creative expression is equally powerful.

Combining historic percussive rhythms with funk and blues influences plus lyrics sung in English, French and Mandinka, the resulting debut album République Amazones was received with critical acclaim. Not least by one Barack Obama who named the album his favourite of 2017.
